Jo was my first barre teacher - I had been meaning to give it a go for a long time but had been a little hesitant. I'm not sure why I was, as she makes the studio an amazing warm, inviting, fun place to be. Her classes are well structured and varied, and the way that she teaches means that they are suitable for everyone, regardless of their level of fitness. Exercises are well explained, and techniques are corrected when needed. I loved the classes, and tried to go to as many as I could!

When I took Jo's class for the first time, I felt like I had met a good friend for the first time. (Turns out, I actually did!) I had just started doing yoga and still didn't know much about what my body or spirit needed. I was working my way out of the intimidation phase when I first took her class. One of the things I loved right off the bat was how approachable she was with classes but also with herself. I learned a lot from her classes about the development and break down of poses; and appreciated the way she made so many poses accessible to me that I might not have felt comfortable doing in other classes. She has a deeply genuine and raw humaneness to her that shines, especially when she is teaching. I felt it not only as her student, but as her friend. I enjoyed her classes because they helped me to find that raw humaneness in myself.

I became acquainted with Jo almost four years ago at a local yoga studio. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for, but I continued to show up to Jo’s classes. Each class left me inspired and more connected to myself. I made sure never to miss if I could help it. Her background was Iyengar and she offered a well-rounded class, complete with pranayama, asana, and intention. My body and mind began to open up in ways I never thought possible. I connected to parts of myself that I had buried beneath years of neglect and fear. Perhaps the most influential facet of Jo’s class style was her ability to be candid about her own struggles. She spoke of human experiences and emotions with which I had previously associated shame and therefore could not yet confront in myself. She gave me a launching point and a few tools to help me along the way. It was her bravery in exposing her own path to self-discovery that I was inspired to begin my own journey. Jo, you are the spark that ignited the flame that lights my path to healing, growth and spiritual awakening.  I felt so connected to Jo and her teachings that I asked her to lead a private practice for me and my closest family on my wedding day. I was in awe when we walked into the studio everything was set in place, complete with candles and beautiful flowers. I could tell that Jo really wanted to contribute something special to this incredibly important day. She offered a class that was accessible to all members of the party, but included asana for me to challenge myself during the practice. She finished the class with gentle touch, the essence of orange and the sentiment of love and support. It truly was a magical start to my wedding day.

I attended Joanna's vinyasa class this morning and came away feeling wonderful. I intend to sign up for her future classes and felt Joanna was superb and on-par with the best I've ever been to.  Her vinyasa flow I find is just the right mix of balance and strength. It's enough "work" to get your heart rate up and your muscles warmed. It's just relaxing enough to walk away with a happy soul, cleansed and able to relax. She knows how to attend to the needs of her students.

I have loved going to Yoga classes taught by Joanna. She has a sweet and gentle personality and gives very direct and precise instructions when she’s teaching.  I like the way she starts each session off with a little description of what’s to come and even maybe some history of the yoga itself.  She is very good at watching all her students to make sure they are in the correct positions and will gently help your body to get there, if you’re not at first.  I love how she will give you alternative positions if you prefer something ‘softer’ or need a ‘deeper stretch’.  Joanna greets all of her students with a warm and friendly greeting each and every time, makes you feel very much at home in the studio!  Her classrooms are always at the right temperature and the right amount of music, as well as plenty of supplies.  Our Yoga Community is grateful to have her teaching us-we love her!
